Electronic submission will be available from April 1, 2011 with the online system Editorial Manager®
The Journal of Oceanography is pleased to announce the launch of its new online manuscript submission and tracking system. The system will go live in April 1, 2011.

Editorial Manager® makes it possible for authors to submit manuscripts via the Internet, provides online peer review services, and tracks manuscripts through the review process. Key features include automatic conversion of authors' submissions into PDF format as well as support for submissions in various file formats and special characters.
After the system goes into operation in April 1, 2011, authors are requested to use Editorial Manager® for all submissions of new manuscripts.
New Instructions to Authors for online submission will be available as of March 31, 2011, at the Journal of Oceanography website:
If an article was submitted before March 31, 2011, it will continue to be handled by the same editor.

Journal of Oceanography
The Journal of Oceanography is the official journal of the Oceanographic Society of Japan, renewed in 1992 from Journal of Oceanographic Society of Japan (JOSJ), and open to all oceanographers in the world. The Journal of Oceanography has been co-published by Terra Scientific Publishing Company with Klewer Academic Publishers or Springer, and will be published by Springer Japan starting from Volume 67, 2011.
The main aim of the journal is to promote understandings of ocean systems from various aspects including physical-, chemical-, biological-, geological-, and pale- oceanography, etc. The journal welcomes researches focusing on the western North Pacific and Asian coastal waters, but the study region is not limited to the Asian Pacific. The journal publishes original articles, short contributions, reviews, and correspondence in oceanography and related fields free of page charge. Papers describing important new techniques, methods, and apparatus will also be considered. Descriptive works will, however, be acceptable if they contain general principles. Authors should submit their manuscripts online. Electronic submission substantially reduces the editorial processing and reviewing times and shortens overall publication times. Umi no Kenkyu (Oceanography in Japan)
Umi no Kenkyu is published every two months. The texts are in Japanese, and the abstracts and figure captions are in English. It contains original papers, and other contributions, such as scientific discussions and communications between society members.
